BioPak Packaging Innovations Named Finalists in the 2026 PIDA Awards

BioPak is proud to announce that two of its packaging innovations have been named finalists in the 2026 Australasian Packaging Innovation & Design (PIDA) Awards, recognising packaging solutions that balance performance, branding, and material innovation. Organised by the Australasian Institute of Packaging (AIP), the PIDA Awards celebrate packaging designs that are shaping the future of the industry across Australia and New Zealand.

The shortlisted entries include the Everest Ice Cream Cup System, finalist in Design Innovation of the Year: Food Packaging Design, and the Zeus Street Greek Packaging Suite, finalist in Design Innovation of the Year: Labelling & Decoration Design. Both projects demonstrate BioPak’s collaborative approach to packaging development — working closely with customers to create solutions that are functional, commercially viable, and designed for better material outcomes.

Developed with Everest Ice Cream, the Everest Ice Cream Cup System reimagines a traditional airline dessert format by replacing a fully plastic tub, lid, and spoon configuration with a paper-based system featuring an integrated wooden spoon. Designed specifically for aviation catering, the packaging was engineered to withstand blast freezing and long-term frozen storage while preserving the convenience of the original “spoon-in-lid” experience.

Meanwhile, the Zeus Street Greek Packaging Suite was recognised for its bold and cohesive labelling and decoration design across takeaway and retail formats. The project transformed Zeus’ packaging range into a visually unified brand system using paper-based clamshells, bags, and containers. A standout feature of the redesign was the development of a specialised print technique using a white underlay beneath Zeus’ signature blue branding to achieve vibrant colour reproduction on kraft paper substrates.

The 2026 PIDA finalists highlight the continued evolution of packaging across design, materials, and sustainability, with finalists progressing toward the global WorldStar Packaging Awards program. Winners will be announced during the PIDA Gala Awards Ceremony 28 July at the Crown Melbourne.
